Brand New Inspirations

by The Artist on June 5, 2012

We’ve been under a bit of a rock lately, as far as the digi world goes.

Not really intentionally, but with all the drawing and a whole buncha paint-and-ink-stained fingers going on over here, the Artist has been just a bit behind the times with regards to all the awesome digital scrapbooking stuff going on.

Last year, we talked a little bit about some of the awesome digistores out there for art journallers.  In the traditional speed-of-light style that characterizes the internets, the whole landscape seems to have changed since then.  Stores have closed and designers have moved on with the trends, and new destinations have opened up with a whole hurricane of creative fun stuff.

The Artist may have accidentally fallen down the rabbit hole of exploring some of these things, in fact.  She admits nothing.

Two of the really cool ones with an artsy/printable twist that she wanted to pass on:

CatScrap is changing to {Scrap}flower.

Check this out:

In just a few days, the new Scrapflower is opening up.  They’re promising the same unique, artsy stuff that you may be familiar with with CatScrap, but with an updated look and a better shopping experience.  And better, all the old stuff at the CatScrap siteall on sale until June 8th.  There’s hybrids and papers and full kits and cards and tons of crazy stuff that would be amazing when printed out and pasted right into your art journal books.

It’s the last time you’ll be able to get things by some of the classic CatScrap designers, in fact.  So if you’ve been admiring some things, now’s the time to jump on it quick…and save a few dollars in the process.

Then there’s the new kid on the block: One Story Down.

Talk about a funky, cool group of designers — this is it.  The style’s really graphic and bold in general, so if you’re into that kind of element in your work, you’ve got to check out One Story Down.  It just opened in March of this year (from looking at their facebook page, at least), and it’s really impressive.  The Artist has managed not to cram her wishlist full of totally insane numbers of things, but her willpower’s fading, and soon, the wishlist will be stuffed so full that she’s a little afraid she’ll break the site.

Do check out the blog while you’re visiting, too.  It’s got a bunch of great, creative content that’s not just strictly about scrapbooking (though the interviews with their designers are great), but also about life and creative living.  It’s a really fun read.

All of this inspiriation is making the Artist’s copy of Photoshop scream at her, by the way.

There’s been so much drawing going on here that there just might need to be some scans and some fun downloads for you all soon, unless the monsters can wrestle the Artist’s attention away from the screen and back into her physical books.  (And attention-wrangling is not the monsters’ strong suit, we admit.)

Are you using any digital fun stuff in your work lately?  Got any great new shops or awesome old ones that you want to share?  Leave us a comment — we’re always looking for some fabulous digi-inspiration. :)
